About 22 reputed universities and institutions of United States (US) showcased the higher educational opportunities available at their respective institutions at the 'US Universities Global Fair' organized today at the Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly Delhi College of Engineering, by the Computer Society of India (CSI) Students Chapter of DTU in association with the IDP Education India Pvt. Ltd.

The prominent Universities and Institutions that participated in the education fair included Clark University, University of Mississippi, University of South Carolina, Ohio University, Auburn University, Western Michigan University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Thomas College, Rutgers University and Long Island University, to mention some.

Representatives of these institutions interacted with the students and told them about the master's and doctoral programmes on offer, especially in the field of engineering, application process, admission criteria, residential facilities, scholarships available and so on.

"Most of the queries we received today were on postgraduate courses in engineering, internship opportunities and scholarships available for international students. We are a premier public University of U.S. Our School of Engineering is very strong in research. Our courses in Biosystems Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace, Industrial System Engineering, Material Engineering were of much interest to DTU students," informed Ms. Lin Larson, Admission Officer, Auburn University.

The visiting delegates of 22 institutions moreover, had an hour long interaction with the Vice Chancellor of DTU Prof. P.B. Sharma along with senior officials, Dean, International Affairs and Head of Departments.

Prof. Sharma in his presentation showcased academic programmes, thrust areas of R&D and innovations at DTU, which have received high international acclaim. He also proposed collaborative partnership to promote internship opportunities for students, faculty exchange and joint programmes in emerging areas of science, engineering and technology.

"Universities in India can no longer afford to work in isolation and international collaborations have become essential to build Universities of tomorrow. It is an historic moment for DTU to have representatives from 22 Universities together at the University campus. The fair has been organized to sensitize students and teachers about programmes and higher educational opportunities in U.S.," said Prof. Sharma

Besides students, large number of DTU faculty members also visited the fair and enquired about doctoral and post-doctoral programmes and opportunities for faculty exchange and collaborative research with the participating Institutions.

"Having so many reputed Universities from US right at our doorstep, made it highly convenient for us to know about educational opportunities abroad. I was personally able to find about doctoral programme in information system, which is not something easily available in India, said Mr. Nikhil Maheshwari, President, Student Association, DTU.

Special offers were given to students visiting the fair like 'free pre-application assessment' and 'fee-waiver in application fees', among others.
